The Mediterranean Circuit

Why not take a lap around the Mediterranean? Sounds like a utopic holiday filled with decadent food, awe inspiring wine and Vesper riding locals peppering the backdrop. Sun kissed seafronts, the lapping sea and a laundry-list of cultures. It’s all that, but so much more. This isn’t some Sunday afternoon jaunt down the cobblestones, this is an epic adventure that spans 18 countries as you ride just over 10,000km. You start in the heart of Western Europe at the Rock of Gibraltar and head east all the way through Spain, France, over the top of the Italian boot and into Eastern Europe. The Balkans beckon – emerging must see travel destinations such as Croatia, Montenegro and Albania add an undiscovered spice before hitting the Middle East. After crossing through Greece – Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Egypt totally change the temperature of the room. It’s westward going now as we skirt the southern edge of the Med – Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and finally Morocco. It will be a trip that will challenge even the most hardened cyclist and world traveler. The cultural diversity will be unprecedented and the oft over used phrase, ‘trip of a lifetime’ will seem suddenly seen perfectly apt. so what will it be like? There will be hard days filled with endless desert, there will be easy days accented with tapa’s and fine wine. There will be strange cultures and unseen destinations. This is the sort of trip that we all dream about doing – this is the moon-shot, the un-organizable epic journey that will trump every trip you’ll ever do. I’m keen, who’s with me?

I love this tour but wish it could start sooner because of my work schedule. Any chance it could start in May or June?

I am planning to ride this in 2011, and would love to track your progress this year. I have opted to be "counted in" as i will be there in spirit (in 2010!). i see you are not riding through lebanon - do feel lebanon could be a highlight, its a magnificent place.

Mid-summer? Surely Spring or Autumn would be better ... ?
