Sectional Riders
I live on a century farm on a lake in eastern Ontario, with horses and sheep and a donkey. I have two young children, and work part-time as a consultant and instructor. In my spare time I skate ski, horseback ride, swim, and canoe.
I am joining the tour for the Golden Road portion. This will be my first bike tour outside Canada, and although I've travelled a lot through many other parts of the world, I have never been to central Asia. I'm really excited about exploring this part of the world with its ancient cities and landscapes by bike, and sharing the experience with fellow riders
“Travelling and cycling are two of my favourite things, and the two together… just the tops! I wish I could do the whole trip (maybe another time…) but for now, I’m very excited about cycling across Turkey, enjoying the team spirit and taking pleasure in all the little encounters along the way (with different people and different landscapes) and the ups and downs (both literally and metaphorically) as we explore this fascinating country…. ending each day (I hope!) feeling tired and happy!”

After travelling by bike over the years in various countries, I tried Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Iran in 2011. I liked it and am looking now for a continuation of these experiences in wonderfull Central Asia, i.e. from Kashgar to Istanbul.
I also like to practice road biking and mountaineering in the summer and in winter I practice cross country skiing and rowing.
Yes, I am enjoying early retirement.

Year of the Dragon 2012. My 1st visit to China, shall be a great push. Shanghai to Xi'an. This is an incredible adventure for me. Raised 4 wonderful children youngest now 21. Pray this is the beginning of many more rides with Tour D' Afrique. Looking forward to sharing Life with those who Love TWO WHEELS one mile at a time.
Hello fellow riders! I'm Niki, nice to meet all of you. I can't wait for May when I'll be on the plane to Shanghai. I've never been to this part of the world before, but have traveled quite a bit (through S.America, Asia, N.America), and am so excited that I'll be experiencing it on my bike. Looking forward to some adventures with you all. Wish I was doing the whole tour, but alas work restricts my time off. I'll be joining you for the Jade Portion. See you all very soon!

This is Clement Lam from California. I was born in Hong Kong and have been in the US for 30 years so this is like a pilgrimage trip for me. Since I started traveling with my bike about 12 years ago, I had been dreaming of riding around the globe with like-minded adventurous cyclo-tourists. Having participated in the Orient-Express bike tour in 2007, I will enthusiastically rejoin TDA on this expedition. We will have a lot of fun riding and learning different culture along the way.
Retired from office work, I love to travel by bike or on foot. Central Asia is the part of our planet I know the least and I am eager to undertake this long traverse through ancient cities, desert landscapes and their people.
I am 68 years old and have already cycled the Silk Route in 2008. A superb experience. In 2008 we did not visite the Pamir region. Therefore I wish to cycle the Pamir section this year. To cycle in these beautiful mountains seems me to be very impressive.
